Kapex - Sawhelper Connecting Bracket
_________________________________________________________________________
The Kapex-Sawhelper connecting bracket developed and made
by Multiblades allows the Sawhelper wing extension to be
connected to the Kapex miter saw.
This bracket can also be used by those who prefer to make
their own extensions out of wood.

Installing the bracket on the Sawhelper takes about 30
seconds.
Just slide the 4 bolts heads into the 2 channels on the
underside of the extension, bring the bracket all the
way down until the T- track rests against the end of the
extension and you are done.
Tighten the 4, 1/4-20 bolts using a 7/16 wrench and
now you are ready to connect the extension to the
Kapex.
The bracket comes fully assembled with all bolts and every other
component in place.
Make sure not to over tighten the nuts and the black knob.
Do not touch the white nylon nuts, the one holding the securing plate is a
locking nut and it won't come loose due to vibration.
Just turn the knob until you feel it's hand tight, then give it another quarter
turn and you are set to go.
Shown here is the Festool's crown stop that fits
very well in the T-track.
If the crown stop needs to be moved far from
the back fence to accommodate wider crown
the T-track can be removed and repositioned
to allow the crown stop to be properly secured
to the T-track.
For those who prefer to use a long sacrificial crown stop, the T-track makes
it easy for you since it eliminates the need to secure the crown stop with
clamps.
All you need is a board with two 1/4" holes drilled 23" apart, 2 bolts 1/4-20 x
2" long, 2 flat washers and 2 female phenolic knobs threaded through,
available everywhere.
If a block a wood needs to be used as a stop for making repetitive cuts, the
block can be firmly secured by using a hold down clamp like the one shown
available at Rockler for about $8.
Extra long T-tracks are available if a special application may require it.
To replace the T-track loosen 2 screws, remove the short track and install
the longer one.
These T-tracks are very strong and tough to bend.

Here is a test that demonstrate how strong is the grip of the bracket.
On one picture the saw is suspended in the air being held by the
bracket, a chain and a come along.
On the other picture, taken outside the Kapex is hanging from the
bracket, the chain and a 2 x 4.
Please, don't try this test at home using your own $1300 Kapex
because something could go wrong, the saw I used in this test is
courtesy of Gary Katz, I borrowed from him. LOL
The bracket can also be used on custom made wood
extensions and the installation is just as easy.
The maximum thickness of the extension where the
bracket attach to it must be 9/16" and the minimum
recommended thickness is 1/2".
Use 2 bolts 1/4-20 with countersunk heads 2" long
and 2 bolts 3/4" long.
